Healthy Tips For The Harmattan Season
Maintain a healthy skin this season

Harmattan - Oh what a sight to see this time of year!
The white face, the dried cracked lips, the dried nostrils and the easily dried up skin. Such discomfort.
Here are some health tips to help you get through the harmattan season with no stress.

Skin and Hair Care
1. Alternate the temperature of your bathe water to suite your needs. Bath warm water when you feel cold and vise versa. Regular baths are recommended.
2. Wear heavy clothing(sweater, socks, woolen clothes) when you are cold and light clothing(tank tops, sleeveless shirts) when its warmer.
3. Moisturize your skin thoroughly paying much attention to your face, neck, arms, legs and feet to prevent excessive dryness and cracks. Use shea butter! it works plus it's affordable.
4. Lubricate your lips with a lip balm, gloss or  shea butter(nkuto) and by licking them more often to prevent cracks and also maintain its natural look.
5. Wash and moisturize your hair well enough to prevent hair breakages.

Mouth, Nostrils and Throat Care
1. Stay hydrated, drink more water not chilled water; Taking more water keeps your mouth and throat moist and hepls prevent cold or flu. Drink at most 1.5 litres a day.
2. Cover your nose with a clean handkerchief or wear a nose mask in a dusty environment.
3. Prevent spontaneous nose bleeds by keeping your nostrils moist; simply apply shea butter(nkuto) into them using your a cotton bud or your index finger.
4. Stay in a well ventilated room.
5. Eat fruits rich in vitamin C(pineapple, guava, pawpaw, orange, mango) or take Vitamin C tablets to help boost your immunity

Be hygiene conscious

1. Do well to wash your hands with soap under running water before meals and after visiting the toilet. You can also carry a sanitizer.
2. Cough or sneeze into your arms(not hands) to prevent the spread of infectious diseases
3. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating them.

Don't be at the mercy of the weather. Stay healthy
